Violinist Daniel Dastoor studies with Paul Kantor and Barry Shiffman at the Glenn Gould School, pursuing an Artist Diploma. Studying with Bill Van der Sloot in Calgary, Daniel completed undergraduate studies at the Mount Royal Conservatory while finishing degrees in Music and Computer Science at the University of Calgary. A national finalist at the 2014-2017 Canadian Music Competitions, and 2015 winner of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Marley Rynd Memorial Performance Scholarship, Daniel has performed as soloist with the Lethbridge Symphony and twice as soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic.
A passionate chamber musician, Daniel performed with the UCalgary String Quartet faculty quartet in residence from 2016-2018, and participated in Calgary Pro Musica’s Young Artists Program most recently as part of the Walden Piano Trio, with which he competed in the 45th Fischoff National Chamber Competition. He has participated in the NAC’s Young Artist Program, the Kneisel Hall, Trondheim International Chamber, Festival del Lago, and Orford festivals, and the Festival de Febrero and Concerts@100 series.
An equally experienced orchestral musician, Daniel has been a member of the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra of Canada, McGill Symphony Orchestra, and has served as concertmaster of the University of Calgary Orchestra.
