Bonnie Buhler is a well-known Winnipeg philanthropist. She was born in British Columbia and moved to Winnipeg at a young age. She attended Kelvin High School before beginning her career at the Manitoba Telephone System and later working as a legal secretary. 

Together with her husband John, Bonnie has provided more than $60 million in charitable gifts in support of healthcare, education and the arts.   

Bonnie and John have been recipients of the “Humanitarian of the Year’ Award by Variety, the Children’s Charity. Recipients are selected based on their outstanding commitment to Manitoba. In 2014, Bonnie received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Winnipeg for her outstanding generosity through philanthropy. She is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Manitoba, which she received in 2016, and a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. 

Bonnie has been on several boards including Buhler Industries, the John and Bonnie Buhler Foundation Inc. and Highland Park Financial Inc. 

Bonnie has 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. 

Bonnie joined the NAC Foundation Board of Directors in 2017.
