Alexander Mullins

Alex Mullins is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He’s currently a 2nd master’s student at the Bienen School of Music and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas. By age 14, Mullins began his orchestral studies outside of public school at the Webster University Community Music School. Mullins is also an alumnus of the St. Louis Youth Symphony Orchestra (SLYSO).

Mullins was recently selected as a winner in the 2022 American Trombone Workshop National Solo Competition, and the grand prize winner of the Susan Slaughter Solo Competition. Alex was also chosen amongst three finalists to compete in the 2022 Edward Kleinhammer competition held by the International Trombone Association. Mullins is a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Mullins has performed with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Philharmonic and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.
