Ottawa, Ontario, November 20, 2013 – Just in time for the holidays, the NAC English Theatre delivers a production for the whole family –The Sound of Music! And with ticket demand at a fever pitch, a second extension of four added shows has been announced, with performances on December 29, January 3 and two on January 4!
With a nod to the golden age of musical theatre, this special live production, sponsored by Trinity Development Group, is brimming with some of the most memorable and well-loved songs of all time including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi" and "So Long, Farewell." Perfect for all ages, The Sound of Music is sure to be one of your favourite things this holiday season.
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein has been captivating adults and children alike for over 50 years. This production, featuring 20 actors and musicians live on stage, and under the guidance of Director Joey Tremblay, Musical Director Allen Cole, Choreographer Dayna Tekatch and the 2013-14 Ensemble, climbs every mountain to deliver the magic and spirit of the world's most beloved musical!
Featuring The 2013-14 Ensemble:
Petrina Bromley, Christine Brubaker, Dmitry Chepovetsky, David Coomber, Eric Davis, Leah Doz, Sheldon Elter, Sarah Gibbons, Quancetia Hamilton, Eliza-Jane Scott and Joey Tremblay.
They will be joined by guest artists, Pierre Brault, Kristi Hansen, Allison Hess, James Loye, and Katie Ryerson, and four local child actors, Madison Elizabeth Bellini and Petra Ginther, sharing the role of Marta, and Clara Silcoff and Hana Woo, sharing the role of Gretl.
The creative team includes: Director Joey Tremblay; Musical Director Allen Cole; Choreographer Dayna Tekatch; Set and Costume Designer Roger Schultz; Lighting Designer Leigh Ann Vardy; Sound Designer Peter McBoyle; Assistant Director Jonathan Seinen; Stage Manager Beth Bruck Assistant Stage Manager Loreen Gibson; and Apprentice Stage Manager Katherine Dermott.
