Ottawa – Heather Moore, Producer and Executive Director of the Northern Scene festival, today announced an additional concert on the festival roster featuring Yellowknife singer-songwriter Leela Gilday, performing with her band in the National Arts Centre’s Fourth Stage on Monday, April 29 at 19:30.  Tickets are on sale now at the NAC Box Office, through Ticketmaster at 1-888-991-2787, and via the festival website at www.northernscene.ca.

“Leela absolutely blew the roof off the Fourth Stage when she performed her song ‘A Cold Wind’ at the launch for the festival, ” said Heather Moore.  “People were hooting and hollering and just delighted at her amazing talent.  Leela is already featured in five different events during the festival, but we thought it was important that she also have an opportunity to play a concert with her band during Northern Scene.”

Multiple award-winning Dene singer-songwriter Leela Gilday is the kind of performer who simply takes your breath away with the pure power and beauty of her voice.  From passionate anthems to soulful ballads to rhythmic blues, Leela’s songs reveal an extraordinary musicianship and a sheer joy in the art of music-making.  Inspired by her deep connection to the North, Leela shares a very personal vision of life as a northern woman, and audiences from Tokyo to Toronto, from New Mexico to Haida Gwaii have thrilled at the experience of hearing a true talent at the height of her creative powers.   For this concert, Gilday performs with regular bandmates Elliot Polsky (Drums), Scott Tucker (Bass), and Jason Burnstick (Guitar).
