The NAC marks Glenn Gould’s 80th birthday with a performance by Music Director Pinchas Zukerman and pianist Angela Cheng
Ottawa (Canada)— The CEO of the NAC Foundation Jayne Watson invites the media to attend Glenn Gould’s 80th birthday with a performance by world-class violinist and violist Pinchas Zukerman, the Music Director of the NAC Orchestra and renowned Canadian pianist, Angela Cheng. Cheng will perform on one of Glenn Gould’s most cherished pianos, which was unveiled at the National Arts Centre last June.
The Steinway piano, known as CD 318 was a gift to the NAC from Library and Archives Canada. The installation of the piano was made possible by the generous gift of Toronto philanthropists Phil and Eli Taylor. Gould was one of the best-known and most celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century; he was born in Toronto on September 25, 1932.
