Virtuoso tap dancer Savion Glover brings his flamenco-inspired production SoLo in TiME to the NAC stage February 5, 2011.

Since first exploding onto the global dance scene in the Broadway smash Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk! Glover has tapped his way into dance legend with his invention, clarity, speed and unique steps – using tap as sound, and sound as dance to brilliantly convey his belief that tap is a vital, contemporary form.

In this new exploration, Glover strips the art form to its essence to explore the passion of flamenco. As Glover explains, “I wanted to explore the rhythmic percussion of a dance that involves an emotional percussive history similar to the hooferz tradition.”

In SoLo in TiME, Glover is accompanied on stage by dancer Marshall Davis Jr. and Flamenco artists. Together these incredibly versatile artists embrace the enduring vitality of an ancient art and pay tribute to its percussive energy through a montage of sounds and intricate time passages of tap.

SoLo in TiME runs in Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre on Saturday February 5, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $38.74, $48.43, $59.19 and $64.57 for adults and $20.72, $25.56, $30.94 and $33.63 for students (upon presentation of a valid student ID card).
