NAC Presents Peter Karp & Sue Foley He Said-She Said
Saturday, March 19 at 8 p.m., in the NAC Studio

For immediate release

OTTAWA, March 16- The NAC Presents series is welcoming on the Studio stage, Canadian Juno Award winner, Sue Foley with critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Peter Karp, on Saturday March 19, 2011 at 8 p.m. They will present their collection of moving, romantic and humoristic songs from their recent album He Said-She Said. This album was created from letters and emails the two of them have exchanged over a 2 years period soon after they met for the first time at the Ottawa Bluesfest in 2006. The concert will encompass a lot of different genres; from flamenco to folk and from jazz to blues showcasing a nylon acoustic guitar, dobro, grand piano and electric guitars.

He: Started writing songs at the age of 8, played accordion for the first time at the age of 9, since then, he hasn’t really stopped. Member of a band called They Came From Houses in his early 20’s, Peter Karp released his first solo CD Live At The American Roadhouse in 1998.

Peter toured with Mick Taylor the former guitar player of The Rolling Stones and an album (never released) with the title Live At The Bottom Line in NYC was born from that tour. From there Peter Karp was signed to Blind Pig Records and started to receive national attention for the critically acclaimed record Shadows and Cracks. Peter Karp was touring the USA with this album until he found out about his wife’s cancer. She sadly passed away in 2009.

Finally in late 2009 when I was ready to go back to work, he decided that he would work with Sue Foley that he got to know better over letters they had exchanged for a 2 years period and together decided to turn them into songs. The result was He Said - She Said released on Blind Pig in March 2010.

She: Was born in Ottawa and started to play guitar and write song early in her teen years. She toured out of Austin for 7 years. By the time Sue was 28, she had 5 releases under her belt, had done about a million miles on the highway and had sat at the feet of and played with many Blues Legends like Otis Rush, BB King, Albert Collins, Pinetop Perkins, Buddy Guy. She moved back to Ottawa when her son was born and said that life became more meaningful for her. During this period she recorded another 6 albums, won many awards (14 Maple Blues Awards, a Juno Award and 3 French distinctions Trophée de Blues) and continued to grow her business while being a mother. One of her long time project in the works is to write a book about great female guitarists that she will title Guitar Woman.

Sue sees the collaboration with Peter Karp like a new breathe and brought back her love of writing and having fun with words and ideas. She really feels the connection with the audience when they perform their new record. She said it’s because the chemistry between them is so special and working together has broken her out allowed her to grow into something new.

He Said - She Said (the concept) is a unique, daring idea beautifully executed by two talented, inspired artists unafraid to express themselves in songs of love, hope, longing, emptiness and frustration.
Hal Horowitz - Blues Revue Magazine

Put [Peter and Sue] together and you've got a great combination. Put them together on a CD titled "He Said She Said' (Blind Pig Records), and you've got one of the most intriguing album projects in a long time.
