Paul Tanguay Receives the 2016 NAC Award for Distinguished Contribution to Touring in the Performing Arts
The National Arts Centre (NAC) is pleased to announce that Paul Tanguay has been awarded the 2016 National Arts Centre Award for Distinguished Contribution to Touring in the Performing Arts.
Mr. Tanguay is being recognized for his life-long commitment to arts touring and presenting in Canada and abroad, and in particular his work with a number of the country’s leading dance, theatre and circus companies. The award was presented at the closing gala dinner of the 17th CINARS (International Exchange for the Performing Arts) Biennale in Montreal on Saturday, November 19.
Originally from Hearst, Paul Tanguay has more than 40 years’ experience in administrative and general management of performing arts organizations, cultural industries and communications. He has also held various positions with government departments and agencies.
Mr. Tanguay has particular experience in organizing Canadian and international tours for dance, music, theatre and circus companies. The list of artists and organizations he has worked with during his distinguished career includes COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD, Rubberbandance, La La La Human Steps, the Old Trout Puppet Workshop and O Vertigo.
Established in 1992 in collaboration with the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA), the National Arts Centre Award for Distinguished Contribution to Touring honours exceptional achievement in fostering the touring of live performing arts in Canada. The recipient is chosen from nominations solicited from within the industry and is selected by a committee composed of presenters, artists, administrators, the National Arts Centre and CAPACOA. The Award for Distinguished Contribution to Touring consists of $2,500 and a specially designed porcelain sculpture by Paula Murray, one of Canada’s finest ceramic artists.
