The NAC Presents all-Canadian music series in partnership with BMO Financial Group announces two concerts as a sneak-peek of the new 2016-17 season. We are delighted to welcome for the very first time in the series, three-time Juno Award winner Chantal Kreviazuk on November 12 in the NAC Theatre as part of her Canadian tour in support of a new record titled Hard Sail to be released June 17 via Warner Music Canada. On November 19, legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot returns to the majestic and newly renovated Southam Hall for one night only!
Tickets for both of these concerts will be on sale on May 17 at 10 a.m.

Fall and Holiday performances, as part of the NAC Presents 2016-17 season lineup, will also be announced on May 17. This will be the last programming season by Producer Simone Deneau before her NAC retirement.

ABOUT CHANTAL KREVIAZUK

Chantal has spent the last few years focused on raising her three sons with husband Raine Maida, as well as her other musical passion, crafting songs. Most recently, Chantal has written for Drake (“Over My Dead Body”), Pitbull (“Feel This Moment”) and Jay Rock (“Pay For It”) –which she performed alongside Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar on Saturday Night Live last November. She has also penned tracks for Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban and Carrie Underwood.

Chantal’s new album Hard Sail will be the sixth studio release of her career and her first in six years. “I was writing all the time, but I didn't feel the need to add to return to my solo career unless it was a departure and reflected my growth as a human being,” says Chantal. “And I wanted to stay close to the nest. My young children needed me and there is only so much leasing space for love.  Now they are busy in their lives and I am compelled to sing more and connect more with my audience once again.  It's been a very organic process!”

Chantal and Raine became members of the Order of Canada, recognizing their efforts to raise awareness and support for numerous causes, including human and animal rights, mental health, education and the environment. Chantal has been an ambassador to War Child for 16 years and one of the organization’s founding artists. She is also a proud supporter of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Polar Bears International, First Nations People, Sick Kids Hospital and Children’s Hospital Foundation in Winnipeg. Last year, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Winnipeg, her alma mater.

ABOUT GORDON LIGHTFOOT

A national treasure, Gordon Lightfoot is beloved by music fans around the world. Born November 17, 1938 in Orillia, Ontario Gordon Lightfoot studied at Los Angeles’ Westlake College of Music. He returned to Canada in the early 1960s and began performing at the “Riverboat” in Toronto and in coffee houses throughout Canada and the United States. In 1966, his debut album Lightfoot! was released. Tracks such as For Lovin' Me, Early Mornin' Rain, Steel Rail Blues and Ribbon of Darkness brought him international recognition as a songwriter. As a result, cover versions of his songs were recorded by artists such as Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Barbara Streisand, Johnny Cash, and countless others.  In 1971 Gordon earned his first TopTen hit when If You Could Read My Mind became an international sensation. In 1974, his classic single, Sundown, went to No.1 on the American charts, followed two years later by The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, inspired by a Newsweek magazine article; it reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard charts. In 2004, he released his 20th album Harmony, and his iconic Massey Hall residencies are celebrated with the release of his most recent album Massey Hall Moments – All Live, a collection of live recordings of the finest Massey Hall performances, recorded between 1998 and 2001.

Mr. Lightfoot has won 15 Juno Awards and been nominated for 5 Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2001. In May 2003 was made a Companion of the Order of Canada and is also a member of the Order of Ontario.  In 2004 was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and, in 2012 into the U.S. Songwriters Hall of Fame.
