NAC Historian Sarah Jennings To Kick Off Library and Archives Canada's Free Signatures Interview Series

Sarah Jennings, arts journalist and author of the book Art and Politics: The History of the National Arts Centre, will be interviewed by Guy Berthiaume, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, as part of Library and Archives Canada’s Signatures Series, a free public event featuring original interviews with individuals who provide insights into parts of the collection.

The discussion will take place in English with simultaneous French translation.

WHEN:    Monday, January 25, 2016, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

WHERE:   Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street (Second floor), Ottawa, ON

DETAILS:        A specialist in arts and culture, Sarah Jennings has worked for the CBC, the BBC and publications including The Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Financial Post, The Wall Street Journal and the American arts magazine ARTnews. A dedicated supporter of the arts, she served as an outside board member on the Board of Trustees of the National Arts Centre and as Vice-Chair of Opera Lyra Ottawa. She also taught at Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communications for 12 years. The archival materials donated by Ms. Jennings consist of interviews with many National Arts Centre personalities including G. Hamilton Southam, Mario Bernardi, Robert Lepage, John Wood, Marti Maraden, Celia Franca and Édouard Lock. The collection also features interviews with senior public officials and arts administrators and with various ministers who have been responsible for the NAC since its inception. The collection, known as the Sarah Jennings fonds, is available to all Canadians.
