TRANSFORMATIONS: My Veins are Made of Tree Branches

By Yolanda M Bonnell / T.O. Live

Yolanda M Bonnell (She/They) is a Queer, 2 Spirit Anishinaabe-Ojibwe & South Asian Dora nominated performer and writer from Fort William First Nation, Thunder Bay, ON (Superior Robinson Treaty). She believes that a deep understanding that we are all connected to the land creates a sense of importance about caring for others. That empathy and compassion are needed to create the change we need in the world so that we can leave this place better than how we inherited it.

My Veins are Made of Tree Branches was created on the traditional territories of the Haudensaunee - Six Nations Confederacy, the Anishinaabe - which includes the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Wendat.

Commissioned by TO Live.  Written and performed by Yolanda M Bonnell. Sound recording by Marcus Sirman. Edited by James Fagan.
