The Transformations Project

TRANSFORMATIONS: Big Picture

By Anita Majumdar / fu-GEN Theatre Company

Anita is a formally trained actor and dancer who often writes one-person plays; during the 2020 pandemic, she rediscovered her love of drawing. This piece speaks to the reflection she was afforded through Covid-19; it is a snapshot of her current thinking around the meandering road between inequality and wealth-hoarding.

Anita is grateful to have worked on this piece in Toronto, also known as Tkaronto, located on the Territory of the Mississauga’s of the Credit and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Wendat, and the Haudenosaunee. She acknowledges the colonial history and settler activity that permitted her onto this unceded territory, and pursues a future where we can all live equally on this land in accordance with the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Convenant, the agreement between the Anishnaabe and Haudenosaunee to share and caretake the Great Lakes region together.
