The third element of dance that we will be discussing is timing.
During the creative process choreographers choose different types of timing techniques in order to bring across their narrative and also just to ensure audience engagement.
Allison Carrier (M.A., B. Ed., B. Kin) is a talented Dancer, Choreographer, and Educator with the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. She has spent a large part of her career spreading her passion, working on various community projects, and fostering a love for movement in today’s youth. Allison’s goal is to expose her students to the broader dance community and to promote opportunities for collaboration, whether it be with local choreographers, international schools of dance virtually, or through her partnerships with the OAG, NAC and the School of Dance.
Allison’s talents know no bounds. She’s developed and led workshops for students and teachers alike from beginner to advanced, for elementary to post-secondary students with a focus on the Ontario Dance Curriculum. Furthermore, she’s shared her passion and valued knowledge as a presenter at education conferences around Ontario with a particular focus on Dance and Experiential Education.
Allison Carrier (M.A., B. Éd., B. Sc. Kin.) est une talentueuse interprète, chorégraphe et enseignante au conseil scolaire du district d’Ottawa-Carleton. Passionnée, elle consacre une grande partie de son temps à une variété de projets communautaires et d’activités qui promeuvent l’amour du mouvement chez les jeunes. Elle a pour mission de faire connaître la vaste communauté de la danse à ses élèves et de favoriser les occasions de collaboration, en ligne et en personne, avec des chorégraphes locaux, des écoles de danse internationales, la GAO, le CNA ou la School of Dance.
Femme aux multiples talents, Allison a développé et animé des ateliers pour élèves et enseignants de toutes habiletés de l’élémentaire au niveau universitaire, en se concentrant sur le curriculum de l’Ontario en danse. Elle a de plus partagé sa passion et son expertise avec ses collègues dans divers colloques d’éducation partout en Ontario, où elle a présenté des communications sur la danse et l’éducation pragmatique.
