For arts lovers, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards Gala is one of the best events of the year. With moving tributes, exciting performances and lots of laughter, it’s always a night to remember. Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Gala on Saturday, May 28 at 8 p.m.
This year’s laureates for Lifetime Artistic Achievement are:

Television broadcaster, theatre artist, scholar and activist
David W. Foster, O.C.
Songwriter, composer, performer, producer and philanthropist
Tomson Highway , O.C.
Author (plays, novels, non-fiction) and pianist/songwriter
Linda Rabin, C.M.
Dancer, teacher, choreographer and somatic movement educator
The Gala will also celebrate Crystal Pite, C.M., who receives the National Arts Centre Award, which recognizes extraordinary work in the past performance year, and Michelle Smith, who receives the Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award for Voluntarism in the Performing Arts.
