The one million visitors who walk through the doors of the NAC every year often ask questions such as “Where can I buy tickets?”, “What’s on tonight?” or “Where’s the washroom?” Since the beginning of this season, visitors have been greeted by friendly duos of young people. Daily from 8 am to 9 pm, these knowledgeable, bilingual Visitor Experience Hosts, answer questions and direct patrons. Equipped with iPads, they’ll sometimes show artist videos to give patrons a better idea of who’s coming to NAC stages.
All 14 hosts are post-secondary students, hired through an audition process that evaluated their leadership skills, emotional intelligence and teamwork ability. During their two-year co-op term, they’ll be mentored by NAC employees and learn about arts leadership. The Visitor Experience Hosts are one more way the National Arts Centre is helping ensure our patrons feel welcome.
