On Monday, February 17, the public is invited to celebrate the 4th annual English Theatre Family Day at the NAC. Presented by Boston Pizza, this special event features a cornucopia of hands-on activities for children and the people who love them! Join us for a memorable day of stories, songs, games, interactive displays and special workshops throughout the NAC.
The themes of this year’s Family Day are camping, friendship and conservation, inspired by English Theatre’s presentation of Roseneath Theatre’s dib and dob and the journey home. Families will have the opportunity to explore ideas around wilderness survival and conservation in various ways throughout the afternoon.
This year’s highlights include Ice-Fishing in the NAC Fountain, Jump Rope with English Theatre Artistic Director Jillian Keiley, Baby Theatre (experimental performance for an audience of babies aged 4-12 months), Canoeing through the NAC Foyer, Lean-to Shelter Building, and the Campfire Salon – with songs and stories, and maybe even a bear!
Also featured are many Family Day favourites from past years, including button-making, face-painting, the Nature Nook with Michael Runtz, arts and crafts, a bake sale, community booths, stilt-walkers, the Three-Minute Play Festival, and special theatre workshops, this year with Roseneath Theatre and English Theatre Playwright-in-Residence Donna-Michelle St. Bernard.
Tying it all together is the Family Day Scavenger Quiz, which leads visitors throughout the building to discover all these wonderful activities.
And all the Family Day events are free!
