Celebrate Canada’s best performing artists during bravo’s one hour television special dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards
Ottawa (Canada)—The National Arts Centre (NAC) is pleased to announce that bravo will be broadcasting a one hour documentary special on the 20th Anniversary of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards on Friday June 1, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET, Saturday June 2, 2012 at 3:00 a.m. ET and on Sunday June 3, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Hosted by bravo’s Matt Wells, the program will bring Canadians the excitement of the red carpet arrivals of some of our most celebrated artists with intimate one-on-one interviews with several winners including beloved comedian Mary Walsh, Oscar nominated Deepa Mehta, one of the world’s most popular rock groups Rush and Tony Award nominee Des McAnuff.
“It’s a great way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Governor General Performing Arts Awards. The National Arts Centre is thrilled to have secured this wonderful broadcast to honour the careers of so many internationally acclaimed artists,” said Christopher Deacon the acting President and CEO of the NAC.
The awards weekend took place in Ottawa from May 3-5 with memorable moments including a standing ovation from Parliamentarians to the award winning artists in the House of Commons, an elegant ceremony at Rideau Hall and a glittering gala to celebrate each winner’s lifetime achievements at the National Arts Centre.
The one-hour the documentary will include footage from the past 20 years, as well as wonderful cinematic portraits of many of the winners produced by the National Film Board of Canada.
