For immediate release

OTTAWA, November 9, 2011 – NAC Presents, in partnership with BMO Financial Group, is thrilled  to welcome multi- JUNO and Gemini award nominated performer Sarah Slean to the NAC Studio stage for two incredible nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 29 & 30, 2011.  Sarah will perform selections from her highly anticipated double album Land and Sea, just released in late September. Land, produced by renowned Canadian songwriter Joel Plaskett includes nine beautifully-crafted pop songs while Sea, produced by award-winning film composer Jonathan Goldsmith and recorded with a string ensemble, takes its inspiration from classical music. This concert is part of the new all-Canadian performance series NAC Presents which was launched in late September with a celebratory event that featured Sarah Slean in a stellar performance.

Over the course of her 15 year career Sarah Slean has made nine albums, starred in two short films and a movie musical, published two volumes of poetry, held exhibitions of her paintings, written two string quartets, and shared the stage with four of the country's leading orchestras.

She has been nominated for three JUNOs (Best New Artist and Best Adult Alternative Album twice), two Geminis, and her records have been released in over 10 countries world-wide.  2002's Atlantic Records debut Night Bugs, co-produced by Hawksley Workman, delivered a bona fide radio hit in "Sweet Ones", a song that has since been covered twice on Canadian Idol.  The release of 2004's critically acclaimed Day One heralded the beginning of a promising career in France, garnering national radio play, several key festival slots, national tours and an appearance on the hit television show "Taratata" as well as tours in Germany and Sweden.  Sarah's music has also been featured on both big and small screens in America (Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Party of Five, Murder in Small Town X).  2008's The Baroness debuted at number one on iTunes Canada and spawned three national tours, winning accolades from such celebrities as Alanis Morissette and Rufus Wainwright.

Sarah Slean performs in the National Arts Centre’s Studio on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 29 & 30, 2011 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.
