Tickets for the spectacular NAC Gala – One Enchanted Evening with Sarah McLachlan -- go on sale at the National Arts Centre Box Office on Tuesday May 17. The Box Office is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. All 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 NAC season subscribers enjoy a special priority purchasing period before tickets go on sale to the general public.

A highlight of Ottawa’s music and social season, the NAC Gala is incomparable! On Saturday, September 24, the glittering evening begins with a pre-concert reception at 5:30 p.m. -- with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres -- then the Gala concert begins at 6:30 p.m. The first half of the concert features Pinchas Zukerman and the NAC Orchestra, and Sarah McLachlan and her hand-picked musicians will join the NAC Orchestra for a sensational second half.

The NAC Gala benefits the NAC Foundation’s National Youth and Education Trust (NYET). Now celebrating its tenth year, the NYET is the primary resource for youth and education funding at the National Arts Centre. Through the performing arts, supporters of the Trust help the NAC pursue initiatives that nurture and develop the creativity of young people in all regions across Canada and support the educators and artists who challenge and encourage them.

The NAC Gala is presented for a second year by Sun Life Financial, a sponsorship that reflects Sun Life Financial’s commitment to supporting the artistic development of young Canadians. The Gala is also delighted to welcome Vale as Associate Sponsor this year. Other sponsors include A&E Television Networks, RBC Royal Bank, Suncor Energy Inc., Emond Harnden LLP, CIBC, The Ottawa Citizen, and Le Droit.

Sarah McLachlan’s gorgeous mezzo-soprano voice and deeply emotional ballads have propelled her to the top of the charts. Co-founder of the all-female Lilith Fair music festival and recipient of numerous JUNO and GRAMMY® awards, McLachlan has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. Her latest top-selling album, Laws of Illusion, is the culmination of a 20 year career. This year, Ms McLachlan was nominated for two 2011 JUNO Awards, ‘Pop Album of the Year’ and ‘Artist of the Year.’ The singer’s life experiences have profoundly enriched her artistry and infused her songs with the full range and complexity of emotions. In Sarah McLachlan, we hear the strength of hard–earned independence, the trials of love won, lost, and found anew -- and the infinite joys of living.

One Enchanted Evening with Sarah McLachlan takes place in Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre on Saturday, September 24, starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $95, $155, and $190 and include the pre-performance reception.
