The National Arts Centre presents a photo exhibition by NAC Orchestra violinist Lev Berenshteyn – “From the Stage of Southam Hall”

The National Arts Centre presents a new exhibition – “From the Stage of Southam Hall” – of photographs taken by longtime NAC Orchestra violinist Lev Berenshteyn. The exhibition is free and is located in the main foyer of Southam Hall.

Mr. Berenshteyn says that the theme of the exhibition is an artist’s public face vs. a private face. These thirteen photographic portraits offer a privileged view of some of the great artists who have graced the stage of the NAC’s Southam Hall. The exhibition lasts until March 8.

Included in the exhibition are portraits of:
Tommy Banks, Canadian pianist, composer, conductor
Russell Braun, Canadian baritone
Dee Daniels, jazz, blues, gospel singer
Hans Graf, Austrian conductor
Lynn Harrell, American cellist
Oliver Jones, Canadian jazz pianist, composer, arranger
Louis Lortie, Canadian pianist
Garrick Ohlsson, American pianist
Trevor Pinnock, English conductor, harpsichordist
Joel Quarrington, Canadian double bassist and JUNO Award winner
Carlo Rizzi, Italian conductor
Alexander Shelley, English conductor
Leonard Slatkin, American conductor and composer

Lev Berenshteyn became seriously involved in photography five years ago, taking photos at the NAC, on various tours with the Orchestra and on his travels throughout Canada.
