National Arts Centre Orchestra principal cello Amanda Forsyth, Concertmaster Yosuke Kawasaki, Associate Concertmaster Jessica Linnebach, and special guest pianist Benjamin Hochman are featured in ‘Music for a Sunday Afternoon’ on January 30 at the National Gallery of Canada
The second ‘Music for a Sunday Afternoon’ concert of the NAC’s 2010-2011 season features NAC Orchestra principal cello Amanda Forsyth, Concertmaster Yosuke Kawasaki, Associate Concertmaster Jessica Linnebach, and special guest pianist Benjamin Hochman, who was featured in A Piano Celebration with the NAC Orchestra in September 2010.
On January 30, this popular Sunday afternoon concert series features music by Witold Lutoslawski (1913-1994), one of the major European composers of the 20th century, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Felix Mendelssohn.
The program includes:
LUTOSLAWSKI Partita for Violin and Piano (1984)
BACH Partita No. 6 in E minor, BWV 830
MENDELSSOHN Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49
The concert takes place in the Auditorium of the National Gallery of Canada at 2 p.m. on Sunday January 30. Tickets are $31.21 for adults and $15.60 for students with Student ID; they can be purchased at the National Arts Centre Box Office in advance or, if available, at the door on the day of the concert.
This Music for a Sunday Afternoon concert will be recorded by Radio-Canada’s music radio network Espace musique (102.5 FM) for future broadcast.
