Put on your dancing shoes for the first CTV Pops concert of the season!
The National Arts Centre Orchestra – and many special guests – perform Gotta Dance! on November 4, 5, and 6 in Southam Hall

In the first CTV Pops concert of the NAC Orchestra’s 2010-11 season, Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly leads the National Arts Centre Orchestra and more than a dozen singers and dancers in the spectacular Gotta Dance!  This all-singing, all-dancing musical extravaganza takes place in Southam Hall on Thursday November 4, Friday November 5, and Saturday November 6, 2010 at 8 p.m.

Jillian Vanstone and Patrick Lavoie, First Soloists from The National Ballet of Canada, will demonstrate the beauty and refinement of classical ballet. Nikolai Pilipenchuk and Natalia Skorikova, Byelorussia’s finest ballroom dancers – and alumni of TV’s Dancing with the Stars – bring the colour and energy of dancesport and competitive ballroom dancing to the stage. And Ottawa’s own Stephanie Cadman –adept at tap, jazz, ballet, stepdancing, fiddling, acting, singing, stage directing and choreographing -- will perform her dazzling tap routines. Joining this talented roster will be singer-dancer Mark Cassius (a member of the Nylons from 1997-2005), Latin America’s most dynamic duo, the Lombard Twins, the O’Hare Irish Dancers and the Sue Fay Healy Irish Step Dancers, and the Ewashko Singers Quintet.

More than a dozen of the world’s best-known dance numbers will be presented on the Southam Hall stage, including Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty waltz and the “White Swan pas de deux” from Swan Lake, Cole Porter’s “Begin the Beguine”, Irving Berlin’s “Shakin’ the Blues Away”, Broadway show tunes, Big Band hits, and Astor Piazzolla’s sensuous “Libertango.”

Attention Teachers!
A Student Matinee performance of Gotta Dance! Will be performed on November 5 at 11 a.m.; logon to www.nac-cna.ca (see Education, Schools, Student Matinees) for further details.
