Tickets for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring In Concert go on sale to the general public on Thursday April 12 at 10 a.m. This special presentation -- sure to thrill both music lovers and film buffs -- includes a screening of Peter Jackson’s 2001 full-length film with the music performed live by the NAC Orchestra. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring In Concert takes place at 7 p.m. in Southam Hall of the NAC on July 5, 6, and 7, 2012.

The Lord of the Rings:The Fellowship of the Ring In Concert is an unforgettable multi-media event which brings J.R.R.Tolkien’s breathtaking world to dramatic life. The film – to be presented in English with French subtitles, on a 60-foot screen -- won four Academy Awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup, and Best Musical Score.

Toronto-born composer Howard Shore’s exciting score is an immensely enjoyable symphonic work. It is one of the most successful film scores ever written and won Shore his first Oscar, as well as a Grammy Award, and nominations for a Golden Globe and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award (BAFTA). The NAC Orchestra will be conducted by Erik Ochsner, with featured soprano soloist Nancy Allen Lundy and the Combined Ottawa Choruses led by Laurence Ewashko.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring In Concert takes place in Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre on Thursday July 5, Friday July 6, and Saturday, July 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $26, $45, $75, $90, and $115.
