NAC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND TOWN HALL ON ARCHITECTURAL REJUVENATION

MARCH 1 (OTTAWA)—The National Arts Centre is inviting the media and the public to attend its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in Le Salon. The President and CEO of the National Arts Centre, Peter Herrndorf, and the Chair of the NAC Board of Trustees, Adrian Burns will presents highlights of the past performance year.

There will be a special presentation from the NAC’s principal architect, Donald Schmitt and NAC Project Director, David McCuaig with the latest drawings and news on the renovation.

The NAC’s priority over the next 16 months is to ensure that our audience and our artists are living through the renovation as seamlessly as possible. We encourage the public to let us know how we are responding to their concerns. Like any major construction project, this one won’t always be easy for our patrons, that’s why the NAC invites the public to let us know how we are doing.

When the “new” NAC opens on Canada Day in 2017, it will have large, light-filled and accessible public spaces that offer breathtaking views of the city, improved performance spaces and a magnificent new transparent entrance on Elgin Street. It’s an extraordinary project, and represents a major vote of confidence from the Government of Canada in the 47-year-old institution.
