FREE house dance workshop
Capital Sessions Community House Dance Practice is back at the NAC on June 16 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm! This month we are featuring dancer Joelle Ciccarelli and DJ Seiiizi. It's FREE, and it's family and beginner-friendly! The DJ plays deep soulful house music from 1:30 to 3:30 pm and the dancer leads two 30-minute workshops at 1:30 and 2:30 pm. You can just dance, learn or listen and vibe out, it's a beautiful space with amazing music!
Joelle Ciccarelli (she/her) was born and raised in Cornwall, ON. She has been dancing for over 15 years and has trained in numerous street styles including hip-hop, house, breaking and locking. She has been part of various dance groups in Ottawa including Bloom, North Moovement and Culture Shock Ottawa (CSOT), and was artistic director for CSOT for 3 years. Joelle has been waacking for a cumulative 2 years and has learned from different mentors in her community. She has found waacking to be a style that she navigates with comfort, presence and curiosity. Joelle is passionate about creating a space for folks to feel comfortable moving their bodies in a way that feels good for them!
DJ Seiiizi is a highly versatile DJ, producer and audiovisual technician based in Ottawa, Ontario. Known for creating immersive sonic experiences, Seiiizi has a passion for the intersection of technology and music, using both analog and digital formats. Seiiizi’s passion has become her foundation in the industry, combining technical expertise with artistic creativity. Seiiizi’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound and technology has led to collaborations with other industry organizations such as Debaser, Gallery 101, National Gallery Canada, House of Paint and Cranium festival. This commitment has been reflected in their studio work and their live performances, where DJ Seiiizi creates a seamless blend of audio and visuals, captivating audiences through nostalgia and rhythm.
