May 2, 2023 - 7 PM EDT 1 hour 30 minutes with no intermission.
In this session, Peter Sullivan, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra principal trombone, shares his deep knowledge and musical techniques with NACO Mentorship Program participants Léonard Pineault-Deault (trombone), Alex Mullins (bass trombone), and Brandon Figueroa (tuba).
Canadian-born Peter Sullivan was appointed principal trombone of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra following a long and fruitful tenure as Solo Trombone with the Montreal Symphony under Charles Dutoit, and later taught at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University as an adjunct professor. He has given concerts and clinics from coast to coast, including masterclasses and coaching at the Juilliard and Manhattan schools in New York City, the Banff Centre, and the Glenn Gould Academy. He has been heard across Canada in recital on CBC Radio and on NPR with his colleagues in the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass.
You can catch Peter in Southam Hall as part of An Alpine Symphony conducted by Alexander Shelley on May 10 and 11. Don’t miss this epic concert celebrating the wonder of nature and the played by a supersized orchestra, with over 100 musicians onstage!
