Zhengdong (Zane) Liang

Zhengdong (Zane) Liang started violin lessons at the age of three with his grandfather in Guangzhou, China. In 2008, Zane was accepted to Xinghai Conservatory of Music affiliated Middle School as a first-class student. In 2013, Zane moved to Edmonton and studied with Frank Ho at the MacEwan University Conservatory of Music. In 2019, Zane graduated from the School of Music, University of Ottawa under the guideline of Yehonatan Berick. In the meantime, he is continuing Master of Music at the Mannes School of Music and studying with Shmuel Ashkenasi.

Zane has been very active as a performer. He has played in Master classes with James Ehnes, Cho-Liang Lin and Christian Tetzlaff and received positive comments. Toward the goal of becoming an orchestral musician, he was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2018. He was the concertmaster mentee at the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra in 2018-2019 season.
