Roshanak is a choreographer, director, performer, producer, and the founding artistic director of Jaberi Dance Theatre–with a career spanning over 25 years. Working at the interface of performance and politics, she has an interdisciplinary artistic practice and has presented her work internationally. Guided by the values of research, collaboration, and intersectionality, her curated projects convene artists with activists, scholars, and community leaders around contemporary global issues. Roshanak has received several awards and nominations for her stage work and films which have been described as “bold,” “evocative,” and “incredibly poignant” (Samer Muscati, Human Rights Watch).
A recipient of the ISPA Performing Arts Global Fellowship (2020, 2021) and the Chalmers Arts Fellowship (2019), she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from York University.
Roshanak has been a guest lecturer and speaker and her work has been referenced in adult education courses and in critical pedagogy at the University of Toronto.
