Petr Cancura

Based in Ottawa, Petr has worked as a jazz saxophonist for decades,  touring and recording with such artists as JUNO Award winners the Mighty Popo and Kathleen Edwards.
 
After having graduated with a Masters in Music from the New England Conservatory , Petr spent a decade in New York City working with like-minded musical collaborators. Petr also picked up the mandolin during this time and begin exploring his love of Bluegrass and Blues.

Always seeking to redefine his musical voice, Petr earned a JUNO nomination and an Independent Music Award for his album Down Home, whichis heavily influenced by roots and blues. . Petr Cancura also serves for the Programming Manager at the TD Ottawa Jazz festival and is a 2015-16 artist in residence at Carleton University.
