Matthieu Girard

Matthieu Girard is a native of Caraquet, NB, and a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. Writer, actor, director and host, he is a longtime associate of the Théâtre populaire d’Acadie in Caraquet, where he has collaborated on numerous productions, including Mélodie Millenium and Les Beignes. In Montreal, he has appeared on stage in several original productions directed by Eric Jean. Thanks to the Prix du Centre des écritures dramatiques Wallonie-Bruxelles, he wrote his play Fuir le corbeau, which received staged readings at the 2017 Festival à haute voix de Moncton and the Zones Théâtrales event in Ottawa, and at the 2018 Dramaturgies en dialogues in Montreal. For television, he has appeared in a few commercials, in Conseil de Famille and Les Newbies, and he was a contributor to 100% Local. In 2019, he returned to Acadia, where he is developing various artistic projects and is the coordinator of the Festival de théâtre jeunesse en Acadie.
