For three decades, I have had a body that I have used to do things that are rarely remunerated. I’ve given birth, I’ve breastfed, I’ve studied, and I’ve produced things that are sometimes visible, sometimes edible, sometimes alive. Some of these things have been elevated to the status of works and sanctioned by players in the contemporary art world. These objects have then been exhibited, circulated and acquired in exchange for a variable pecuniary value. As a child, I collected gemstones in Northern Quebec. Quartz is my biggest acquisition to date.
