Joanie Roy

Born in Caraquet, NB, to parents from Quebec’s Beauce region, Joanie Roy is a multidisciplinary artist who started out in the performing arts and classical dance. It was during her university studies in visual arts (Université de Moncton) and translation (Université de Sherbrooke) that her talent for directing and choreography began to emerge.

Perennially curious, she likes to invest her time in building lasting relationships with her community and developing artistic projects that focus on the experience of beauty, connection and reality, with humans and nature at the forefront. She is currently working on various exhibition projects as well as a dance–performance duet project exploring the theme of distance.
