Hailing from El Paso, Texas, Jacob Diaz began his journey with the double bass at the age of ten. He continued his studies under the guidance of his longtime mentor Erik Unsworth. He completed his bachelor’s and performance diploma studies at the Jacob’s School of Music where he was a recipient of the Artistic Excellence Fellowship, Premier Young Artist Scholarship, and the Lawrence and Celeste Hurst Friends of Music Scholarship. Jacob currently holds section bass positions with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Jacob’s principal teachers include Kurt Muroki, Jeff Turner, and Lawrence Hurst.
