Geneviève Pineault graduated from the University of Ottawa Theatre Department in 1999 and has been working in theatre for the past 25 years. She was artistic director and general manager of the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) in Sudbury from 2004 to 2017. The company received the 2014 Ontario Premier’s Award for Artistic Excellence, along with a $50,000 grant. In 2015–16, she adapted and directed Jean Marc Dalpé’s novel Un vent se lève qui éparpille, coproduced by the TNO, Théâtre de la Vieille 17 and the National Arts Centre French Theatre. From 2017 to 2020, she was the executive director of the Association des théâtres francophones du Canada (ATFC), while also managing the Fondation pour l’avancement du théâtre francophone au Canada, the ATFC’s philanthropic arm. She received the 2019 Prix Rideau Award for Director of the Year for Les 39 marches by Patrick Barlow, translated and adapted by Josée Labossière (Théâtre de l’Île). Since July 2020, Geneviève has been at the helm of Théâtre de la Vieille 17 as artistic director and co-general manager.
