Gabrielle Chapdelaine

Gabrielle Chapdelaine is a playwright, screenwriter and translator. A 2017 graduate from the National Theatre School of Canada’s Playwriting program, she has lent her talents to numerous theatre projects in Quebec, Martinique, France and Germany. In 2018, she won a Gratien-Gélinas prize for her play A Day (Une journée), which has since been translated into English and German. The play was first performed in the United States in 2020, followed by local productions in Carleton-sur-Mer and at Montréal’s Théâtre de Quat’Sous in 2022. Her play Le faiseur debuted at Théâtre Denise-Pelletier in January 2023, with stage direction by Alice Ronfard. Chapdelaine also translates plays from English to French. Her television experience includes helping adapt Quebec’s version of the French series Call My Agent! (Dix pour cent), and co-writing the series Les invisibles and Nous
