Chae Chi-sung is the artistic director of the National Orchestra of Korea. He studied traditional Korean music at Seoul National University, pursued conducting at the graduate school of Chung-Ang University, and completed a doctoral course at the graduate school of Hanyang University. Through open recruitment, he was selected as a producer at the Korean broadcaster KBS for 15 years. He moved to the Gugak Broadcasting Foundation at its inception, where he worked as the head of the programming team, director of the headquarters, and president. During his tenure, he significantly expanded and developed the Gugak Broadcasting Foundation into a national platform. Additionally, he served as the assistant conductor of the KBS Traditional Music Orchestra. He won the Korean National Composition Awards and KBS Traditional Music Awards in the composition category. He was also appointed as the director of various traditional music festivals. He has actively contributed to the development and popularization of traditional Korean music.
