Catherine Chabot has a bachelor’s degree from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal and a master’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago, where she studied with renowned flutist Mathieu Dufour. During the three years Catherine spent in Chicago, she played flute with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in a permanent position and was a member of the International Chamber Artists of Chicago. Catherine regularly enters music competitions and has won a number of awards and scholarships in Canada and abroad. Known for her expressive, sensitive playing style, she has performed on stage in orchestras and in chamber and solo recitals in North America, France, Germany and Japan. Along with classical music, she is an avid tango dancer and combined these two interests by founding the tango music quartet Atipika. Since 2019, Catherine has been the principal flute for the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay–Lac‑Saint‑Jean. She is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in music at the Université de Montréal.
