Wales
Before moving to west Wales in 2002, Branwen spent eight years based in London as a sound engineer, musician, and producer, collaborating with pioneering artists such as 4hero, Talvin Singh and Lady Miss Kier (Deee-lite) on a range of landmark albums and events and a huge catalogue of cutting-edge releases for the electronic dance scene. Notable moments during the period were her engineering and programming credits for two Mercury Music Prize nominations (including a winner in the case of Talvin Singh’s OK), recording world class Indian classical musicians in Mumbai and Madras, engineering on Madonna’s Music album, and participating in various significant live performances, in some cases as musical director, at venues such as the Barbican, Bloomsbury Theatre, The End nightclub, and events such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Perry Farrell’s Enit Festival (US) and Crossing Border Festival (Holland).
Since relocating to west Wales, Branwen has continued recording, mixing and producing at her own GoldHill Studio, developing her own music and working for a diverse range of clients including Coco & Cwtsh (Wales), Keith James (UK), LAL (Canada) and Rae Spoon (Canada).
Branwen has also forged a career as a composer, creating original music and sound for theatre and screen, including work for National Theatre Wales, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, Radio Cymru, Radio 4, August 012, Leeway Productions, Give it a Name, Mary Bijou Cabaret and Social Club, Carys Eleri, f.a.b. The Detonators, Emily Laurens, and Rain Dove. Branwen’s versatile composition work blends acoustic instruments and orchestrations with her trademark mix of synthesizers, sound design and sampladelic electronica.
Designed in consultation with partners in countries from around the world, the program will help overcome barriers in the music industry, and provide opportunities for support, discussion, networking and collaboration.
