Aren Okemaysim

Originally from Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation in Treaty 6 territory, Aren Okemaysim is a nêhiyaw/Plains Cree multidisciplinary performing artist, sound designer and technician currently based in Treaty 4, Saskatchewan. Currently, he is the Head of Sound for Globe Theatre in Regina.

When he is not behind the console, he is either writing/performing with his okimawᐅᑭᒪᐤ solo project or somewhere across Turtle Island performing in plays as an actor.  His most recent acting/design work includes: This Is How We Got Here (voiceover, Persephone Theatre); Oak Floors! A Heritage Cabaret (performer, All Terrain Theatre), Niizh (performer, Native Earth Performing Arts), The Call of the Lake (sound design/composition, Luminato Festival), The Mountaintop (sound design, Persephone Theatre) and many more.
