Flutist Aram Mun was born in Seoul, South Korea, to a family actively invested in traditional Korean music. While Mun was attending the Oberlin Conservatory (Bachelor’s and Artist Diploma), studying with Alexa Still, she won prizes in various competitions such as the Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition, the Tuesday Musical Association Competition, and the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia Competition. She also attended several summer music festivals including Aspen Music Festival and The Banff Centre. After finishing her studies at Oberlin, Mun went on to Rice University where she completed her Master’s Degree with Leone Buyse. Mun then went on to McGill University where she received a Graduate Diploma studying with Albert Brouwer and is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma with Joanna G’froerer.
While in Canada, Mun has performed with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal and The National Arts Centre Orchestra through their respective mentorship programs. She is also the winner of the 2023-2024 McGill Concerto Competition. Mun has appeared on two albums and is pursuing an orchestral career in North America.
