Ahlam Gholami

Last updated: August 14, 2023

A 2022 graduate of the acting program at UQAM’s École supérieure de théâtre, creator Ahlam Gholami made her debut in Sin La Habana (2020), a feature film by Kaveh Nabatian in which she played Shireen, the younger sister of Nassim, a young Iranian-Canadian woman fleeing an oppressive past. The film won the Prix de la diffusion Québecor at the Festival du nouveau cinéma. To celebrate the end of her university studies, Ahlam attended UQAM’s Summer School in Prague, where she discovered Czech culture. Her love of travel also took her to Berlin, Rome and Crete. On her return, she worked as an associate artist at Teesri Duniya Theatre, where she created My Woman, a collage of poems written by Iranian women through the ages. Passionate about children’s theatre, she gives workshops for children ages 5 to 12, introducing them to collective creation. As a performer, she played Nahla in Magpie, a play for teenagers written by Laurie Léveillé and directed by Claude Poissant, as part of a reading event at the Maison Théâtre.
