“Il s’agit assurément de l’objet théâtral le plus ludique et farfelu à l’affiche en ville! Et si vous n’avez pas perdu votre coeur d’enfant, vous risquez de bien vous amuser à La Petite Licorne devant cette série de saynètes et de pièces musicales sans véritable sens, mais tellement divertissantes!” Luc Boulanger, La Presse

Consisting of a series of short, bizarre forms, this piece flirts with the irrational and the fantastic. Monologues, an absurd tune and madcap poems spew forth in a festive celebration of our fears both big and small. Just for the pleasure of fun!

Shake the JAR.

A show where logic and rational thought take a holiday, so say goodbye to daily life devoid of imagination! The stage becomes a jar that, like a funhouse mirror distorting the commonplace, gives rise to short, bizarre forms, all dedicated to helping us overcome our terror of the meaningless void. A monologue evokes a childhood sorrow, a poem delicately opens the door to peer into a closet of anxiety, and a silly tune – tinged with a whiff of compost – becomes a song of love. These wide-ranging variations, as they flirt with the fantastic, create a festive celebration of our fears both big and small.

I’d like to feel that strong urge to say to someone “Forever my darling our love will be true, always and forever, I’ll love only you”. I’d like it to come out naturally, as though it were an absolute certainty. As though I were saying, well… “Hey, let’s go to IKEA. It’ll be fun.”

THE PROJECT

Nucleus: A new company founded in 2011 by three dynamic actors: Raphaëlle Lalande, Sonia Cordeau and Simon Lacroix.

Expertise: The three accomplices met at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal, where they received solid training in theatre. Since leaving school their pretty faces have graced Quebec stages and television screens. Presented at La Licorne in 2013 as part of the next-to-last Zoofest festival, Le projet bocal was very well received.

Objective: “The pleasure of fun”…more or less the company’s leitmotif.

Consortium: You and me plus them, plus all those who want it, as the song says.
