Journey into the breathtaking and imaginative world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings as never before! Experience the first installment of Peter Jackson’s 2001 cinematic tour de force, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring projected on a 60-foot screen while over 200 musicians, including the NAC Orchestra, perform the blockbuster’s Academy Award- and Grammy Award-winning score. The fate of Middle-earth hangs in the balance as the hobbit Frodo and his eight companions embark on a quest to Mordor to destroy the One Ring.

The majestic vistas of the Misty Mountains, the dark mines of Moria and Gandalf’s thrilling battle against Saruman will unfold before your eyes while the film’s thrilling score will be performed live by a host of performers and musicians. Howard Shore’s vivid and complex orchestration is an immense symphonic work. This unforgettable multi-media event brings Tolkien’s world to dramatic musical life: musical worlds commingle, sometimes combining forces for a culminated power, other times violently clashing…and always bending to the will of the One Ring.

We are pleased to announce that Howard Shore, composer of the Lord of the Rings, will participate in a FREE pre-concert talk on Thursday, July 5 at 17:30 in the Fourth Stage. Paul Wells will host the live chat with Howard Shore, via video conference, and conductor Erik Ochsner. Capacity is limited to 160 so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. This talk will take place in English only.
