Soo Jin Chung is a Korean-Canadian conductor and pianist and has conducted the Berlin Sinfonietta, the Sofia Sinfonietta, and the Sinfonia Azteca among others. Since being in the Mentorship Program, she has worked with the Orchestra Métropolitain under the guidance of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and has had her Canadian début with Orchestre symphonique de Québec.

Soo Jin Chung, Korean-Canadian conductor and pianist, is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma at The Juilliard School under the guidance of David Robertson. In New York, Soo Jin regularly works with and conducts the Juilliard Lab Orchestra in performance at Alice Tully Hall and assists notable guest conductors for the Juilliard Orchestra and AXIOM Ensemble. Last summer, she conducted l’Orchestre Symphonique de Québec in performance as part of the Domaine Forget International Festival, where she was mentored by Kensho Watanabe and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Through various masterclasses, she has conducted the National Arts Centre Orchestra, l'Orchestre Métropolitain, Berlin Sinfonietta, and the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, among others. Soo Jin has also served as a cover conductor for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
Soo Jin holds a Master of Music in piano performance from Rice University, where she studied with Jon Kimura Parker. Other primary teachers include Logan Skelton and Jamie Parker. As a participant of the Mentorship program last year, Soo Jin is greatly indebted to Alexander Shelley and the National Arts Centre Orchestra for their artistic guidance.
La cheffe d’orchestre et pianiste canadienne d’origine coréenne Soo Jin Chung étudie actuellement au deuxième cycle à l’École Juilliard sous la supervision de David Robertson. À New York, elle dirige et accompagne régulièrement le Lab Orchestra de Juilliard dans ses concerts à la salle Alice Tully et assiste des chefs invités de renom pour l’Orchestre Juilliard et l’ensemble AXIOM. L’été dernier, elle a dirigé l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec lors d’un concert au Festival international du Domaine Forget, où elle a été mentorée par Kensho Watanabe et Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Dans le cadre de diverses classes de maître, elle a notamment dirigé l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts, l’Orchestre Métropolitain, le Berlin Sinfonietta et l’Orchestre du Festival Cabrillo. Elle a aussi été cheffe d’orchestre substitut pour l’Orchestre symphonique de Saint-Louis, l’Orchestre symphonique de Kansas City et l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts.
Elle est titulaire d’une maîtrise en interprétation au piano de l’Université Rice, où elle a étudié auprès de Jon Kimura Parker. Parmi ses autres principaux enseignants, mentionnons Logan Skelton et Jamie Parker. Ayant participé au programme de mentorat l’année dernière, elle est profondément reconnaissante à Alexander Shelley et à l’Orchestre du Centre national des Arts pour leur accompagnement artistique.
