Professor Dr Vinay Bhide is a highly renowned expert in Indian classical vocal music. He has performed extensively in Europe, North America and India. His subtle command on the grammar of the Raga - the melodic structures, the rhythmic disciplines, the improvisational creativity and the distinctive technique of voice production with its demands makes it a superbly pleasant experience for the audience.

Unlike Western classical music, Indian classical music combines the role of the composer and performer in the person of the performer. Ragas are the melodic frame-works, which have evolved over the millennia as virtual archetypes with clearly defined, and widely shared, emotional, and sometimes, even seasonal, mythological and historical associations. The "grammar" of each raga is specific enough to establish its unique identity amongst ragas, while being open enough to trigger an infinite variety of aural experiences.

Dr Bhide, also professor of Indian classical music at the Carleton University, Ottawa, will be accompanied by Vineet Vyas on table and Raya Bidaye on Harmonium and 2 Tanpura (drones) players.

Vineet Vyas is a young and dynamic musical talent of Canada. He is a disciple of the legendary Tabla maestro, Pandit Kishan Maharaj of Benaras.  Vineet has performed with some of India's eminent classical artists. He has been awarded scholarships from the Canadian Government in recognition of his musical talent and has been featured on CBC television and radio.

Raya Bidaye is well recognized harmonium player from Toronto. He has been active in the areas of Northern Indian classical music as a harmonium player, composer and concert organizer for over 30 years.
