Four Seasons of Spring, A Concert of Chamber Music with Dat Nguyen

NAC Studio

East & West: Classical and contemporary music for guitar.

Presented by the Vietnamese Canadian Federation & Vietnamese Canadian Centre, in celebration of Asian Heritage Month

Featuring Dat Nguyen, acclaimed guitarist and singer from California, the program is an exciting mix of classical and contemporary Western and Eastern music repertoires for guitar. It will also feature Vietnamese music, folk songs, and Dat’s original compositions that have all been arranged for solo guitar. It is a unique opportunity for the general public and music lovers to discover a  multi-talented and versatile musician.

Growing up as an Amerasian child in Vietnam in the 70’s, blind since birth and orphaned at age five, Dat Nguyen discovered the beauty and healing power of music in these years of hardships. Since settling in the United States in 1991, Dat Nguyen has won several music awards, including the Disney Creative Challenge Award, the California String Teacher Association Competition, and the National Panasonic Young Solo Artist Competition. He is the first Vietnamese artist to be recognized at the Multi-Cultural Arts Series in San Juan Capistrano in November 1996.

This is his first performance in Ottawa.
