Mélissa’s musical journey began with performances and tours that took her from her Eastern Ontario home all the way to Kuala Lumpur.

Her career received a boost in 2003 when she won the Ontario Pop people’s choice award, and she went on to one success after another: performing with Pornflakes at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, grants from the Jeux de la Francophonie, the Fondation franco-ontarienne and the Ontario Arts Council, a tour of Asia (Hong-Kong, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur) and making a mark as an impressive opening act for concerts by Martin Deschamps, Dany Bédar, Boom Desjardins, Lost Fingers, Claude Dubois, Robert Charlebois, la Compagnie Créole, Éric Lapointe and Véronic DiCaire.

She currently enjoys working with Broken Nails and Belles Angels (PornFlakes), two all-girl bands that perform across Canada and the United States.

In conjunction with her impressive musical career, Mélissa has benefited from the experience of renowned mentors such as Louise Forestier, Nelson Minville, Jacinthe Pauzé, René Gagnon, Monique Cardinal, Marcin Brezinski, Stéphane Mayer and Sergine Dumais. In addition to her music studies at Lionel Groulx College, she has also taken several classes in singing, dancing, improvisation, and diction, as well as musical and contemporary theatre, making for a very versatile artist.

Her solo career began with a very solid base, and she composes and researches various sounds in the studio with the same passion and professionalism that have marked her approach from the outset.

Her first single, Une autre terre, has been on radio playlists for the past few months. The lyrics she wrote for this rhythmic pop-rock piece take the listener on a journey in a hymn, a flight to elsewhere. They are backed by a very catchy melody that grabs the ear from the first few chords.

Abel Maxwell

Ever since his beginnings at the Lyon and Amsterdam’s conservatories, Abel Maxwell created a name for himself in the international musical scene.  The pianist, singer and producer collaborated with well renowned artists such as Miguel de Armas (Cuba), Bobby McFerrin (USA), Patrick Fiori (France) and Alex Bellegarde (Montreal).

Abel Maxwell also participated in several international festivals in Holland (Kwekoo Festival 2000), in France (Jazz a Vienne, A Vaulx Jazz 2005) and in North America (Montreal Jazz Festival 2010, Jazz Festival in Quebec 2011, Ottawa Jazz Festival 2012).

Other than his love for writing and composing music that elevates spirits, he has a particular and surprising way of mixing all kinds of music like pop and soul with a touch of jazz and gospel.  As an author-composer, producer, music director, pianist and singer, Abel Maxwell is not only an accomplished musician but he is an artist that inspires life and happiness.
