More loyalty to NAC Orchestra than ever before! Subscribers renew their seats for 2013-14 in record numbers

OTTAWA – The numbers add up to a new record set. Eleven percent more subscribers to National Arts Centre Orchestra concerts renewed their subscriptions for the upcoming season than they did a year ago, with a record 15 percent more tickets sold than at the same time last year.

“It’s fantastic news. The 2013-14 season lineup is full of extraordinary artists performing extraordinary repertoire, and we’re so excited that this resonated with our subscribers. Next season will just be a question of ‘Did you get in early enough to get to see your top picks?’” says Christopher Deacon, Managing Director of the NAC Orchestra.

What elements of the Orchestra’s new season may have helped push these numbers into the stratosphere?

•           Masterworks Signature concerts – Music Director Pinchas Zukerman’s Romantic Festival, along with international superstars such as Renée Fleming, Yefim Bronfman, Jon Kumura Parker, Conrad Tao, Jan Lisiecki and Christian Zacharias, fuelled subscribers’ desire to hear the greats such as Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Haydn.

•           Fidelity Investments Pops Series – an energizing combination of fun, recognizable, and boundary-pushing evenings, including the musically talented Canadian band The Barenaked Ladies, The Music of John Williams, and Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.

•           Family Adventures concerts – more than ever before, the Music Education specialists at the National Arts Centre have crafted a season of beauty, delight, and educational storytelling to bring smiles to the faces of young NAC Orchestra concert-goers.

•           Casual Fridays – the new, earlier time and casual social atmosphere combined with Chef John Morris’ innovative tapas dishes and the stellar musical talent of the wickedly wonderful Cameron Carpenter, the internationally-acclaimed Leila Josefowicz and the NAC Orchestra’s own gifted Principal Cellist Amanda Forsyth ensure an exciting and memorable 3- concert Friday night concert series.

The 2013-14 National Arts Centre Orchestra concert season: You belong here. It’s a message that’s been well-received. Thank you, NAC Orchestra subscribers, for your enthusiastic support of artistic excellence!
