Matinée added!
Making their hotly anticipated NAC debut, Alonzo King LINES Ballet boasts a company of the most gorgeous and technically fearless contemporary ballet artists touring today. Renowned choreographer Alonzo King presents a mixed bill, including his acclaimed re-imagining of the ballet Scheherazade, filtered through a contemporary lens. The original Rimsky-Korsakov score, adapted for Western and Persian instruments by tabla master Zakir Hussain, heightens the work’s exotic dreaminess. In Resin, the company gloriously interprets rhythm and melody in a suite of solos, duets, and ensemble dances. Musical selections include Sephardic melodies, and archival synagogue recordings from Turkey and Morocco.
